The single most reliable check for any online degree's validity is the UGC-DEB's own published "Entitled Online" list at deb.ugc.ac.in — not a university's own "UGC approved" badge, which is a marketing claim, not independent proof.
A real example of why this matters
During our own research, we found three programs where a university's own site claimed UGC entitlement, but the exact program name didn't initially appear on the published list — in one case, appearing instead under a completely different university. We verified all three directly with the universities before publishing anything, and updated our pages accordingly once confirmed.
How to check a program yourself
Look up the university's exact legal name on the UGC-DEB list (large universities sometimes have more than one legally distinct entity), then confirm your specific program is named exactly — not just that the university appears somewhere on the list.
